Boulder Hypnotherapy Institute was founded in Boulder, Colorado in 2020. We started as a live online training program serving the Front Range's therapist community, and we've since expanded to serve licensed professionals across Colorado and nationwide via Zoom.

With CU Boulder's psychology programs, Naropa University's contemplative psychology department, and a dense network of private practices, Boulder's clinical community provided the early cohorts of therapists who shaped BHI's curriculum through direct feedback.

Boulder therapists tend to be open to integrative approaches — combining evidence-based psychotherapy with somatic, contemplative, and experiential methods. BHI's curriculum reflects this orientation: hypnotherapy is taught as a clinical tool that integrates with existing modalities.
How Live Online Delivery Works
Live Zoom Sessions
5 consecutive days of real-time instruction. You see your instructor, your cohort sees you. Questions are answered live, not in a forum thread days later.
Supervised Breakout Practice
You pair with peers for real practice sessions — running inductions, delivering suggestions, conducting regressions — with instructor check-ins and feedback.
Live Demonstrations
Instructors demonstrate every technique on volunteer participants during class. You observe the full arc of a real session, not a scripted recording.
Small Cohort Format
Each cohort is intentionally small so instructors can give individual feedback. Your clinical background and learning pace are accommodated, not ignored.
From Boulder to Live Online
BHI's journey from a local Boulder program to a national live-online training.
Boulder Hypnotherapy Institute founded in Boulder, Colorado — one of the first hypnotherapy training programs in the region focused on licensed clinicians.
First cohort of Colorado therapists completed Level 1 training. Alumni begin integrating hypnotherapy into private practices across the Front Range.
Expanded to serve therapists nationwide via live zoom. Colorado therapists can attend without driving to Boulder — same live format, same supervised practice.
Over 1,000 graduates across Colorado and nationwide. Now headquartered in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Largest alumni concentration remains along Colorado's Front Range.
For Boulder-Area Therapists
If you practice in Boulder, Longmont, Louisville, Lafayette, Broomfield, or anywhere along the Front Range — you already know the community that shaped this program. Many of our instructors and senior alumni practice locally. When you complete the training, you're joining a network of colleagues who understand your market and can serve as referral partners. Colorado does not require a separate hypnotherapy license. As a DORA-licensed therapist (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, PsyD), you can practice hypnotherapy within your scope after completing appropriate training. The 32 NBCC-approved CEs from Level 1 count toward your license renewal.
