Level 2 Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapy is the second stage of the Boulder Hypnotherapy Institute certification pathway and the level at which graduates earn the Advanced Certified Hypnotherapist (ACHt) credential. This is a competency-based clinical certification — not a CE-only continuing education course — designed for practitioners who have completed the SSM™ Level 1 CHt Certification and are ready to move into full-scope clinical hypnotherapy practice. Level 2 is delivered Live Zoom as a 6-month modular program structured around live training, supervised case consultation, and observed clinical sessions. The certification is accredited by the International Hypnotherapy Association (IHA) and joins the credentials held by 1,000+ BHI graduates already practicing nationwide.
The Level 2 advanced clinical hypnotherapy training curriculum extends the foundational session framework from Level 1 into a full-spectrum clinical practice. Core modules cover advanced induction techniques including rapid and instant inductions for established clients, multi-session treatment planning across short-term and longer-term work, clinical case conceptualization for complex presentations, advanced therapeutic suggestion construction, parts therapy and ego-state applications for internal conflict, regression-to-cause protocols for working with the originating event behind a presenting issue, and integration techniques for translating in-session breakthroughs into durable behavioral change. Level 2 is designed for practitioners who have completed the SSM™ Level 1 CHt Certification (or equivalent foundational hypnotherapy training) and are ready to operate as fully certified clinical hypnotherapists. This includes licensed mental health professionals — therapists, counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapists, and psychologists — who want to deliver hypnotherapy as a primary modality in private practice. It is also designed for hypnotherapists trained elsewhere who want to add a clinically rigorous, IHA-accredited certification to their existing credentials, and for Level 1 graduates ready to deepen their work and stack the ACHt credential on top of the CHt awarded at Level 1.
