Who This Training Is For
Level 1 is designed for licensed professionals and experienced practitioners who want to add clinical hypnotherapy to their existing practice. No prior hypnotherapy training needed.
Licensed Therapists & Counselors
LPCs, LCSWs, LMFTs, and psychologists who want to add an evidence-based, experiential modality that accesses material talk therapy alone often can't reach.
Nurse Practitioners & Medical Professionals
Healthcare providers looking to integrate mind-body approaches into patient care — especially for anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, and stress-related conditions.
Trauma-Informed Coaches & Practitioners
Experienced coaches and wellness practitioners with a clinical or trauma-informed background who want to deepen their client work with structured subconscious change techniques.
Why Colorado Therapists Choose BHI
Most hypnotherapy trainings teach techniques in isolation. This one gives you a complete clinical framework — with supervised practice and instructor feedback — so you leave ready to see clients.
Repeatable session architecture — not just 'cool techniques,' but a clinical framework you can use under pressure with real clients
Ethics, contraindications, and scope of practice treated as core competencies — not a 30-minute afterthought
Trauma-informed pacing built into every protocol — stabilization, consent, titration, and integration
Supervised practice with instructor feedback — so your first real client session isn't your first time 'driving the car'
Neuroscience-informed approach — understand why hypnotherapy works at the brain level, not just how to do it
Practice-building guidance included — how to position hypnotherapy in your existing practice, attract clients, and communicate value
How Live Online Training Works
Each skill follows the same four-step cycle — so you never just watch, you practice.

What Colorado Therapists Are Saying
Before Level 1, I avoided trance work with anxious clients. After the training, I used the session framework and resourcing protocol — my client reported a noticeable reduction in panic intensity within two sessions. This training gave me a clinical tool I actually use every week.

BHI was founded right here in Boulder, and you can feel that Colorado spirit in the training. The supervised practice dyads gave me real reps — not just theory. I left the training ready to run sessions Monday morning, and the alumni network across the state has been invaluable for referrals.
David L., LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Boulder, CO
I was worried about finding quality hypnotherapy training from Colorado Springs without driving to Denver or Boulder. The Live Zoom format was a game-changer — I got the same interactive experience and now offer hypnotherapy to my family therapy clients. Three couples have already had breakthroughs we couldn't reach with talk therapy alone.
Rachel M., LMFT
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist
Colorado Springs, CO
As a therapist in Fort Collins, I appreciated how BHI's training integrated seamlessly into my existing practice. The trauma-informed pacing and session framework were immediately applicable. My cohort included practitioners from across Colorado and I've built lasting referral relationships with alumni statewide.
James K., LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
Fort Collins, CO
As a licensed counselor in Denver, I wanted to add hypnotherapy to my clinical toolkit without taking time away from my caseload. BHI's Live Zoom format made it easy to attend from my home office. The training was rigorous, clinically grounded, and I earned 32 CEs toward my renewal.
Amanda R., LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
Denver, CO
I was skeptical that an online training could deliver real clinical depth. Kelly and Marie grounded everything in a structured framework with clear protocols. My clients who've done hypnotherapy sessions report breakthroughs they hadn't accessed in years of talk therapy. I've since completed Level 2 as well.

Founded in Boulder — Built for Colorado Therapists
Kelly Bearer founded Boulder Hypnotherapy Institute in Boulder, Colorado — a city known for its progressive approach to integrative health and evidence-based wellness. After 20+ years as a licensed psychotherapist and a decade of clinical hypnotherapy work, she developed the Meta Hypnotherapy framework to give therapists a structured, repeatable system for trance work — not a collection of scripts, but a clinical methodology grounded in neuroscience, trauma-informed care, and ethical practice.
Over the past decade, BHI has trained hundreds of licensed professionals across Colorado — from the Front Range cities of Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins to Colorado Springs, the mountain communities, and the Western Slope. Our fully live online Zoom format means every Colorado therapist has equal access to the same high-caliber training, regardless of location.
You attend in real time, practice techniques with a live cohort, and receive direct instructor feedback — the same immersive experience, delivered to your screen. BHI is an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider and accredited by the International Hypnosis Association (IHA).

How to Choose Hypnotherapy Training in Colorado
A practical checklist for licensed therapists evaluating hypnotherapy programs — whether online or in-person.
Green Flags
- Recognized accreditation (IHA, NGH, or ACHE)
- NBCC-approved CEs accepted by Colorado licensing boards
- Live supervised practice with instructor feedback
- Instructors who demonstrate techniques, not just describe them
- Trauma-informed safety framework taught before techniques
- Clear scope-of-practice guidelines for your license type
- Transparent pricing with payment plan options
- Active alumni network and ongoing professional community
Red Flags
- ✕No accreditation or evasive answers about accrediting bodies
- ✕Claims you can be 'certified' in a weekend or through videos alone
- ✕No live supervised practice — only lectures and recordings
- ✕Instructors who don't actively practice hypnotherapy
- ✕No discussion of contraindications, scope, or safety
- ✕Pressure to enroll immediately or artificial urgency tactics
- ✕No clear information about CE approvals or licensing board acceptance
- ✕Pricing that seems unusually low (under $500 for a full certification)
Quick Comparison: What to Look For
| Criteria | Strong Program | Weak Program |
|---|---|---|
| Accreditation | IHA, NGH, or ACHE accredited | No accreditation or self-accredited |
| CEs | NBCC-approved, specific count listed | Vague 'CE-eligible' claims |
| Practice format | Live supervised practice (Zoom or in-person) | Self-paced video only |
| Instructors | Active practitioners who demonstrate live | Lecturers with academic-only credentials |
| Safety training | Contraindications, scope, consent taught early | Safety addressed briefly or not at all |
| Support | Alumni network, mentorship, community | No post-training connection |
| Pricing | Transparent with payment plans | Hidden fees or pressure tactics |
Colorado-Specific Considerations
Colorado does not separately license hypnotherapists. Hypnotherapy is practiced under your existing license (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, etc.) as an adjunctive modality. This means your training choice matters for two reasons: (1) your licensing board needs to accept the CEs, and (2) you need clinical competency that holds up within your scope of practice.
DORA (the Department of Regulatory Agencies) oversees Colorado mental health licensing. NBCC-approved continuing education credits are widely accepted by DORA for licensed professional counselors and other regulated providers. Always verify with your specific board before enrolling.
